Toy Studio’s Word Off! took the top spot on this week’s top emerging games on Facebook, growing by an estimated 31,818 monthly active users for a 61 percent gain. AppData estimates that this puts the game at 30,000 MAU.

Coming in at the No. 2 spot for the second week in a row is adictiz’s turn-based card game Laboratz with 25,821 new MAU for a gain of 20 percent. Last week’s top Facebook game Booty Quest from developer Outplay Entertainment, dropped to the No. 3 spot with 21,917 MAU for a gain of 16 percent. Coming in at the  No. 4 spot is Shinezone.com’s Jewel Blitz with 21,626 MAU for a 23 percent gain. Finally, closing out this week’s list top emerging games on Facebook is Indiagames’ Cricket Fever Challenge with 21,407 MAU and a 34 percent gain. Cricket Fever Challenge took the same spot last week as well.

There weren’t many notable gainers outside the top 5 this week, with only one more title, Pixonic’s The Lost Island, showing a gain of more than 50 percent, with 21,261 MAU for a gain of 51 percent.

Zynga Slots is once again the top gainer among the fastest-growing Facebook games by daily active users, bringing in 1.8 million DAU for a 278 percent gain. The social gaming giant’s slots game also topped this week’s list of fastest-growing games by monthly active users.

Another game from Zynga, Words With Friends, came in at the No. 2 spot with more than 1 million DAU for a 22 percent gain. The No. 3 spot went to Nordeus’ Top Eleven Be a Football Manager, which added 349,588 DAU for a 10 percent increase. This puts Nordeus’ popular simulation game at 3.4 million DAU. Playdom’s Words of Wonder came in at the No. 4 spot with 315,307 new DAU for a 336 percent gain. BitRhymes’ Bingo Bash closes out the top five with 125,535 DAU for a 15 percent gain.

Other notable gainers this week include Soccer Manager with 54,094 for a gain of 102 percent and Zynga’s Chess With Friends with 40,776 for a gain of 126 percent.

Zynga Slots is this week’s fastest-growing Facebook game by monthly active user, bringing in 10.6 million monthly active users for a 177 percent gain. Last week Zynga Slots also came in at the No. 1 spot with 4.3 million monthly active users for a 247 percent gain.

Pretty Simple’s Criminal case took No. 2, up 9 percent with 1.5 million MAU. Playdom’s Words of Wonder came in at the No. 3 spot with 1 million MAU and a 209 percent gain, amounting a total of an estimated 1.6 million MAU. Zynga’s Words With Friends dropped to the No. 4 spot with 793,315 MAU, up 5 percent. King’s Bubble Witch Saga completes the top five games on the list with a 4 percent increase of 716,426 MAU.

There were no other notable gainers to report this week.

Outplay Entertainment’s match-3 game Booty Quest took the top spot on this week’s top emerging games on Facebook, growing by an estimated 28,586 monthly active users for a 27 percent gain. AppData estimates that this puts the game at 90,000 MAU.

Coming in at the No. 2 spot is adictiz’s turn-based card game Laboratz with 28,541 new MAU for a gain of 28 percent. Last week’s top Facebook game, القاهر (“Omnipotent”) from developer BigGameNOW, dropped to the No. 3 spot with 21,670 MAU for a gain of 30 percent. Coming in at the  No. 4 spot is LOLGames’ LOLCasino with 21,428 MAU for a 42 percent gain. Finally, closing out this week’s list top emerging games on Facebook is Indiagames’ Cricket Fever Challenge with 21,307 MAU and a 52 percent gain.

Other notable gainers this week are SGN’s The Official Paddle Ball with 20,625 MAU for a gain of 49 percent and Con-Sol’s Wolf Pack with 17,114 for a gain 83 percent.

Zynga Slots is the top gainer among the fastest-growing Facebook games by daily active users, bringing in 925,013 DAU for a 147 percent gain. The social gaming giant’s slots game also topped this week’s list of fastest-growing games by monthly active users.

Nordeus’ Top Eleven Be a Football Manager came in at the No. 2 spot with 317,494 DAU for a 9 percent gain. The No. 3 spot went to King’s Candy Crush Saga, which added 214,536 DAU for a 1 percent increase. This puts King’s tremendously popular match-3 game at 15.5 million DAU. Social Quantum’s megapolis came in at the No. 4 spot with 188,285 new DAU for a 41 percent gain. Spooky Cool Labs’ The Wizard of Oz closes out the top five with 134,760 DAU for a 471 percent gain.

Overall it’s been a rather slow week, with no gains near or above 50 percent outside the top 5.

Playdemic’s Village Life took No. 2, showing much greater growth over last week, up 16 percent with 1.5 million MAU. Zynga’s Words With Friends came in at the No. 3 spot with 1.3 million MAU and a 10 percent gain, amounting a total of an estimated 14 million MAU. Wooga’s Pearl’s Peril came in at the No. 4 spot with 1.1 million MAU, up 34 percent. Social Point’s Dragon City completes the top five games on the list with a 4 percent increase of 989,682 MAU.

Another notable gainer on this week’s chart is Spooky Cool Labs’ The Wizard of Oz, up 367 percent to the No. 7 spot with 613,940 MAU. The game may have picked up steam thanks to the release of the Oz the Great and Powerful movie.

القاهر (“Omnipotent”) from developer BigGameNOW took the top spot on this week’s top emerging games on Facebook, growing by an estimated 36,982 monthly active users for a 106 percent gain. AppData estimates that this puts the game at 50,000 MAU.

Coming in at the No. 2 spot is Bytex’s Berserk Universe, a turn-based card game with more than with 200 cards, multiplayer tournaments and daily challenges. Berserk Universe grew by 30,849 MAU for a gain of 100 percent. Shinezone.com’s match-3 game Jewel Blitz came in at the No. 3 spot with 30,835 MAU for a gain of 60 percent. USERJOY Technology’s Confrontation Web Card Game is in the No. 4 spot with 30,812 MAU for a gain of 37 percent. Finally, Dawn of Darkness by IGG came in at the No. 5 spot with 20,566 MAU for a gain of 100 percent.

Other notable gainers this week are SGN’s Basket Blast at the No. 14 spot and The Official Parking Mania at the No. 15 spot, both showing a 50 percent gain.

Wooga’s Pearl’s Peril is the top gainer among the fastest-growing Facebook games by daily active users, bringing in 620,825 DAU for a 119 percent gain. The German developer’s game has been showing steady growth since it launched in early March, and seems to be plateauing at around 1.1 million DAU.

Geewa’s pool game Pool Live Tour took the No. 2 spot with 276,294 DAU for a 13 percent gain. Interestingly, Pool Live Tourt is taking the No. 2 spot away from another pool game, Miniclip.com’s 8 Ball Pool, which this week came in at the No. 6 spot with 175,685 DAU for 9 percent gain. The No. 3 spot went to Zynga’s ChefVille, which added 257,276 DAU for a 13 percent increase as well. Social Point’s Social Empires came in at the No. 4 spot with 243,234 new MAU for a 31 percent gain. And closing out the top five is CookApps’ Bengle with 191,720 MAU for a 20 percent gain.

Two other notable gainers this week are Plarium’s Total Domination with 114,598 MAU for 66 percent gain and RoyalCactus’ Bubble Monsters with 56,175 MAU for 112 percent gain.

Finnish mobile game developer Rovio today announced it’s bringing the Facebook version of its flagship title, Angry Birds Friends, to mobile.

Angry Birds Friends is different from the other mobile versions in the franchise in how it monetizes and its social hooks. Whereas in the mobile versions a single lifetime purchase of $0.99 unlocks all of the game’s levels and powerups, players of Angry Birds Friends can only purchase a limited number of powerups that range from 20 uses for $1 to 1000 uses for $20. The Facebook version of the game also includes exclusive levels and items. Rovio has also expanded the game’s social features for Facebook, integrating Open Graph so users can add the app to Timeline, creating a more visible leaderboard that stays on the right side of the screen and allowing players to send and receive gifts. Players can also collect bonuses for playing every day and competing in weekly tournaments.

Rovio, presumably, hopes to drive up engagement by offering all of these social features and monetization methods to mobile players.

Angry Birds Friends peaked after it officially launched in May 2012 with 24.1 million monthly active users. It has been losing users steadily since, but seems to have platued in December 2012. Today AppData has Angry Birds Friends at an estimated 10.8 million MAU, placing it in the No. 38 spot of thr most popular Facebook games by MAU (right behind FreshPlanet’s SongPop and ahead of Zynga’s CityVille).

It’s time to look at the Top 25 Facebook games for April 2013.

Starting this month, Inside Social Games will report on the top 25 Facebook games using AppData’s estimated monthly active users (MAU_E) and estimated daily active users (DAU_E). MAU_E and DAU_E are estimated MAU and DAU values based on current performance data from Facebook and our six-year-old database of historical Facebook application metrics. By analyzing trends in our database of almost 400 million measurements of how MAU and DAU function and move over time, our data scientists have been able to develop algorithms for estimating MAU and DAU values for Facebook applications.

Both of April’s lists saw King, which recently rebranded from King.com, continue to hold the top spots, though Zynga is still close behind and with more titles in the top 25 lists overall.
