EA Announces Closure of Plants vs Zombies Adventures on Facebook
Electronic Arts has revealed its plans to shutter PopCap Games’ Plants vs. Zombies Adventures on Facebook. The game was released in 2013, and sees players defending a base from the undead. It features famous franchise plants like Sunflowers and Wall-Nuts, as well as new zombies and plants, like the Beet, which causes large amounts of melee damage to enemies.
“We are sorry to say that Plants vs. Zombies Adventures is being retired from Facebook on October 12, 2014. It is always a sad decision to stop development on a game we have put so much love into, and we share your disappointment, as we too are gamers and fans, first and foremost.”
The game is still available to play until the closure date in October, but no refund options are available for purchased premium currency. In fact, the developers have decided to make the most of this last hurrah, offering all players 100,000 free gems (the game’s premium currency) as a way to let players have as much fun as possible until the game closes.
Players have also been offered a free 50,000 coin gift in Bejeweled Blitz. This is claimed via a pop-up when first accessing PvZ Adventures on Facebook.
In addition to this closure announcement, EA also announced the closure of Monopoly Hotels on iOS, Android and Kindle devices.
