King updates Candy Crush Saga with new Dreamworld expansion
Casual game developer King has announced the first true expansion for Candy Crush Saga (our review), bringing a new Dreamworld location to match-three fans on Facebook. The new game mode takes players to a parallel world of dream levels, and offers twists on the traditional Candy Crush Saga gameplay.
Dreamworld is available to players who have completed at least Level 50 of the base game. The expansion offers 65 levels, which are reimagined versions of the early levels of the base game, but with added challenge.
A new character, Odus the Owl, leads players through Dreamworld, which focuses on balancing Odus on his perch and not letting him fall off. A different candy is assigned to each side of the perch, and matching that particular candy in the stage moves Odus to that side. If players fill one side before the other, Odus falls off and players must try the stage again.
If players can successfully keep Odus balanced long enough to completely fill the perch on both sides, they’ll activate his “Moon Struck” power, which eliminates whole color groups from the board for a few moves, making it easier to make larger matches and earn higher scores.
Players can swap back and forth between Dreamworld and the normal Candy Crush Saga experience at any time outside of a level, and can access their messages (including free lives), Gold supplies and more in each realm.
“We’re thrilled to offer new and existing Candy Crush Saga players an exciting new way of playing the game,” says Tommy Palm, Games Guru at King, in a statement. “We hope that the new ‘Dreamworld’ mode will prove a fun twist for newcomers to the game and a tantalizing challenge for our loyal fanbase. As with all our games, we endeavor to offer our valued players a regular flow of exciting new content – we hope that they will love the new map, as much as we’ve enjoyed developing it.”
The Dreamworld update is now available in Candy Crush Saga on Facebook, as well as the iOS and Android versions of the game. Check back soon to follow all of King’s games on AppData, our tracking service for mobile and social apps and developers.
