Bake Shop Drop relaunches as a new experience on Facebook

After a successful launch on Facebook at the beginning of 2013, Bake Shop Drop from Broken Bulb Studios has been relaunched as a much more in-depth experience, seeing players start from scratch on a level-based world map, completing levels with specific goals in mind.

The gameplay from the original version of Bake Shop Drop has been brought over in this newly updated version. Players watch as baked goods appear at the top of the screen, and must choose which column to drop those tasty treats onto. As groups of three or more matching pastries touch diagonally, horizontally or vertically, they’re removed from the screen and play continues until a level’s goals are met or players run out of moves.

After every four moves, a new row of pastries appears from the bottom of the screen, with some requiring matches to be made next to them, before they can be removed themselves. Combos can be triggered as pastries are matched and the remaining items fall down the screen, with all of these actions contributing to players’ overall level progress.

If players fail to complete each level’s particular goals, they lose lives. These lives recharge over time, or can be purchased with real money. Meanwhile, the Golden Tickets currency and power-up systems have also been carried over, giving users a chance to manually choose which pastry appears next, for instance. These power-ups cost Tickets to purchase, and Tickets can also  be purchased with real money.

Bake Shop Drop also now includes a weekly tournaments feature, which takes players back to the game’s original, non-limited gameplay. There’s no lives system here, and no move limit, so players can continue to drop pastries until a column fills and ends the game.

Bake Shop Drop has over 1 million monthly active users, according to our app tracking service AppData. The game is now available to play for free on Facebook.
