GameHouse Casino Plus brings monthly real-money sweepstakes to Facebook
RealNetworks today announced GameHouse Casino Plus, a new social casino game that offers sweepstakes to its US players, rewarding “life-changing” cash prizes.
GameHouse Casino Plus is based on the Facebook game GameHouse Casino, but it contains monthly sweepstakes, each rewarding one lucky entrant $100,000. Starting tomorrow, August 1, the first sweepstakes will be available for entry for Facebook players in 31 states and Washington D.C. Players outside of these supported areas will be eligible to enter a monthly contest for large amounts of virtual coins.
GameHouse Casino Plus features slots, video poker, roulette and blackjack. Playing each will give gamers the chance to collect Golden Tickets. These Tickets are a form of currency, used to enter the current $100,000 Golden Dreams sweepstakes, which starts and ends on the first and last day of each month.
“This is a powerful approach,” said Ken Murphy, vice president and general manager of GameHouse, via a company release. “GameHouse Casino Plus now delivers the excitement of a chance to win real cash through a staple of American culture, a sweepstakes.”
GameHouse Casino Plus isn’t the first Facebook game to give players a chance at real world prizes via a sweepstakes setup. Bingo by Ryzing and Bingo Blitz, as examples, have both previously offered sweepstakes to their players, but the prizes haven’t been nearly as grand.
Real’s move comes at an interesting time, as so many developers are focused on real-money gaming in the US and UK. Zynga’s recent abandonment of its push into real-money gaming in the US has left the door open for other developers to find success in the space, and while GameHouse Casino Plus doesn’t offer traditional gambling, it does support the purchase of additional coins to keep playing.
In a way, this creates a “feeling” of gambling in GameHouse Casino Plus, as users could feel motivated to purchase more coins than they would otherwise for a chance at earning more Golden Tickets and entries into the $100,000 sweepstakes. However, this “raffle ticket” setup isn’t considered true gambling and therefore avoids the restrictions associated with such.
The first sweepstakes in GameHouse Casino Plus will launch on August 1. For more information on GameHouse’s large catalog of Facebook games, check out the company’s website.
