Aeria Mobile today announced its newest collectible card game Pirate Maidens has launched for free on iOS.

The game is the latest in a series of CCGs that Aeria’s brought to mobile devices, following titles like Magimon and Monster Paradise. The game provides three in-game factions with unique stories to follow, and players are able to freely switch between each plotline without losing any progress in the game. Players are cast in the role of pirates who set sail and rescue their buxom crew members (instead of magical monsters, like in most other CCGs).

However, Pirate Maidens will stand out from other CCGs with its adult-oriented content. The game’s iTunes page carries the “You must be at least 17 years old to download this app” warning because it includes simulated gambling and “frequent/intense sexual content or nudity.”

As with Aeria’s other games, Pirate Maidens features a fairly wide array of social features. Players can create and join guilds, engage in international PvP battles, and team up for raid events. We’re also told the game features optional Japanese voiceovers for every collectible pirate character in the game.

CCGs have proven  to be massive hits on mobile devices, with titles like Rage of Bahamut (as of right now, the No. 8 top grossing app in iTunes) Marvel: War of Heroes and Blood Brothers have been dominating the charts. However, the genre is growing increasingly crowded as more developers try to tap into the lucrative audience for these games. What will be interesting to see is if Pirate Maidens’ adult content is enough to titillate and tempt a sizable player base into its ranks.
