This week, Zynga announced the impending shut down of its long-running social RPG Vampire Wars, as we predicted in October.

In a post on Zynga’s player support website, the company said the game will shut down on Dec. 5. Players are encouraged to move to other titles like CastleVille, ChefVille, Mafia Wars and FarmVille 2. However, until Vampire Wars is shut down, Zynga says it’s going to continue launching new content in the game, and the in-game store will feature serious discounts for players to spend any leftover in-game currency.

As a loyal Vampire Wars player, you are eligible for a one-time, complimentary bonus package in one of either Castleville, or Chefville, or Farmville 2, or Mafia Wars or YoVille. You can start the process by logging into Vampire Wars and clicking on the “Redeem” button. Please note that this offer will be valid only until Dec. 5, 2012.

As we noted last month, our traffic tracking service AppData shows Vampire Wars has fewer than 100,000 daily active users; currently its traffic is sitting at 40,000 DAU. Prior to this, Zynga announced it was shutting down Treasure Isle and FishVille.

Interestingly, this announcement from Zynga implies there aren’t any plans to sunset YoVille, which currently has 160,000 DAU. However, it’s also interesting to note that Zynga didn’t mention Mafia Wars 2, which is another title we predicted will be shut down.
