Nordeus and bwin.party join forces for sports-betting game

This morning, online gambling giant bwin.party and game developer Nordeus announced they were partnering on a new social sports-betting application.

The move follows May’s news about how bwin.party was committing $50 million towards social games, which included the establishment of its own European game studio, Win. Details about the new game being created are non-existent right now, but it sounds like this is only the first project the two companies will be working on together.

Nordeus is a smart partner for bwin.party to team up with if it wants to make a sports-themed social game. The developer’s Top Eleven soccer management sim has been steadily gaining traffic for years on Facebook and consistently appears on our monthly list of the top 25 Facebook games. Not only that, but this is a title that appeals to adult men, an oft-sought after audience in the social games scene that also tends to be more inclined to engage in sports betting.

Nordeus and bwin.party are going to be competing directly with the biggest player in the room, though, as Zynga and Rocketplay launched their own social sports-betting game Sports Casino last week on both Facebook and Zynga.com. While that’s a daunting pair to go up against, bwin.party’s online casino games mean the company’s poised to take advantage of real money gaming on Facebook, something only a couple of other developers have done so far.
