King.com’s popular Facebook game Bubble Witch Saga is now available on iOS devices.

The developer announced the iOS version of Bubble Witch Saga back in June, but we were able to spend some time with the game both on iPhone and iPad this week. Although King.com spent some time re-mapping the game’s UI for touchscreen devices. Aiming, swapping and firing bubbles can easily be managed with one finger on the screen, while charms can be activated by dragging them out from the sides. The graphics, too, have been upgraded to take advantage of the Retina display and looked incredibly crisp on the iPad.

Bubble Witch Saga is also a fully-synchronized Facebook game, meaning players can progress on either version of the game and will see their progress reflected on the corresponding platform. At the start of July, Bubble Witch Saga was the No. 4 game on Facebook, but it will be interesting to see how much traffic changes when new users start playing on mobile and connecting the game to their Facebook accounts.

King.com’s been experimenting with mobile versions of social games for a while, both with Bubble Saga on Kindle and Miner Speed on iOS devices, but Bubble Witch Saga marks the start of an expanded push into mobile markets for the developer. In April, CMO Alex Dale told us the company has plans to launch more “Saga” games on mobile devices, and King.com says the Android version of Bubble Witch Saga will launch later this year.
