Dave Pottinger, the former lead designer on Zynga’s popular Facebook game CastleVille, announced today the founding of his new studio BonusXP.

Pottinger is serving as the studio’s CEO and is joined by other prominent veterans of the video game industry, John Evanson and Jason Sallenbach. Evanson was Senior Programmer at Robot Entertainment and will serve as BonusXP’s Director of Technology, while Sallenbach was known for his work as Senior Character Artist at id Software and will now wear the hat of Art Director.

All three of the company’s founders worked together on the AAA games Age of Empires III and Halo Wars. BonusXP says it’s already hard at work on its first title, which is expected to release for mobile devices sometime later this summer.
