UberStrike developer CMUNE nets first round of funding, goes cross-platform

CMUNE, one of the first developers to develop a Facebook game in Unity, today announced a first round of funding from Skype co-founder Niklas Zennström’s VC firm, Atomico. The amount of the round was not disclosed.

CMUNE’s lone game, UberStrike, has enjoyed an usually long life on Facebook at over two years and counting with peak traffic of 1 million monthly active users and 150,000 daily active users between December 2011 and April 2012. The 3D shooter originally debuted well before that under the name Paintball Paradise on both Facebook and MySpace. Today, the game is playable on Facebook, Kongregate, the Mac App Store and on CMUNE’s own site. The game will also be coming to iOS and Android “soon.”

During the announcement — made onstage at Global Mobile Internet Conference in Beijing — the developer demonstrated UberStrike’s cross-platform capabilities between the Facebook and mobile version. The company is hiring for over a dozen positions in its Beijing office, where the core of the development team is based.
