Slotomania Sees Traffic Resurgence on Facebook Following Playtika Acquisition

Slotomania is a slot machine gambling simulation from developer Playtika, which was reportedly acquired in part by Harrah’s, a casino brand in the Caesars Entertainment Corporation. Launched in December 2010, this game recently made a reappearance in our weekly lists of fastest-growing games by daily active and monthly active users after being absent for several months.

According to our data tracking service AppData, Slotomania – Slot Machines currently has over 4,179,000 monthly active users and over 912,000 daily active users.

Slotomania engages players in the same manner as slot machines in Las Vegas by using colorful graphics, music, and a steady stream of winning free coins to keep them playing. Players start the game with 200 coins and access to a “Farm Fortune” slot machine that features large, colorful cartoon-y farming icons such as chickens, barns and pigs on a three by five grid with a set of numbers along the left and right side of the board that form lines from one side to the other. Players choose how much virtual currency to bet on a spin and across how many lines they want to hope for a match.

The video game element comes from leveling up individual slot machines. As players place bets within a specific slot machine, they gain experience points. When they reach a new level, they unlock a new slot machine with a different theme (e.g. “Bubble Rumble” at level two with 250 points). As the games level, the number of lines within the slot machine also increases, allowing the player to make larger bets and earn more prize money.

To keep players engaged, the game provides coin bonuses at each level, allows players to send friends either free spins or coins. Similar to Playtika’s other title, Farkle Pro, the game also rewards players every four hours by giving them free coin bonuses. Social features include a Reel Game, which is a slot machine with friends’ profile pictures in place of the icons, as well as the usual Wall post achievements. The game monetizes through selling coins and with a TrialPay offer wall. The game is fairly generous with free coins, which perhaps explains the 20%-25% retention rate of daily active users as a percentage of monthly active users.

Interested readers can continue tracking the progress of Slotomania with AppData, our traffic tracking application for social games and developers.

There are other, more innovative slot games out there, like Slot Machine Tournaments for example. Would be nice to see someone else besides Playtika get some coverage for once.

  2. AJ Glasser says:

What makes this one “better” than Slotomania, out of curiosity?

  3. hurrdurr says:

It’s a multiplayer experience – you know – social. Slotomania is just a single player slot sim. There is actually an element of strategy and skill with Slot Machine Tournaments. Try it out!

  4. Adam says:

I have played both and i would say that SMT lack in one major area, the Graphics are terrible. In the end users are here to play interesting games. SMT is not an interesting game.

  5. Adam says:

And the reason that the game doesn’t get any coverage is because it’s not a good game.

  6. hurrdurr says:

Huh? The graphics are easily as good as Slotomania’s, but even if they weren’t, everyone knows (or should know) that gameplay is what is most important.

I guess if you prefer playing a slot game by yourself, leveling up by yourself and bragging to yourself- while still calling it a social game, then that’s your perogative.

Most of us prefer to play engaging, rewarding games with other people in real-time. SMT is the only slot machine game that does that, which is exactly why it is interesting.

  7. hurrdurr says:

Not going to publish my comment? I’ll bet all the shekels in Israel that “Adam” is “Adam Jaffe” VP of marketing for Playtika.

    Curious, isn’t it?

  8. Judy says:

Me and my friends absolutely love slotomania, can’t wait till a new game is added as we are already at the next level. Hurry up, we are anxiously awaiting the game!

  9. Starlotte Burneske says:

What is the problem with not being able to send free spins

  10. Paul says:

Since you didn’t print my comments about the games being rigged to lose, how about getting someone intelligent enough to print these articles that can spell “resurgence”. Must be rough to be ignorant.
    Duh…

  11. AJ Glasser says:

Relax, Paul – typos are easy enough to fix. And I found your comments in the spam filter — looks like you sent the same one too many times, which likely upset WordPress.

  12. Paul says:

It was sent once but it was rather unflattering (even more so than the last one), but that’s okay. Typos are one thing, ignorance is another. Won’t bother you all anymore, but also won’t play the games, and I absolutely will NOT pay these people to cheat me. I may not be the sharpest bulb in the chandelier, but my mama didn’t raise no dummies (with the possible exception of my brother) :)

  13. Paul says:

    PS….Thanks for fixing the “typo.”

  14. kathy cinano says:

IM JUST WONDERING WHY IM NOT ABLE TO GET ONTO SLOTOMANIA AND AS A REGULAR PLAYER I FEEL IM FEELING UPSET AS I ENJOY SPINNING AND WINNING.(LOL) ALOT OF PEOPLE ARE BEING INCONVIANCED BY THIS “GLICH”. hOW LONG DO YOU THINK WE WILL BE INCONVIANCED FOR,AS IT WAS I WAS ACTUALLY ON A ROLL WHEN IT JUST DISAPPEARED.

  15. Beverly Regina says:

THIS SLOTOMANIA HAS ROBBED ME AND MANY OTHERS…THEIR GAME CONSTANTLY FREEZES WHILE YOU ARE IN A WINNING SPIN AND IF YOU READ THE DISCUSSION BOARD ON FACEBOOK YOU WILL SEE LITERALLY HUNDREDS OF FOLKS LIKE ME GETTING RIPPED OFF AND ROBBED OF THE REAL MONEY WE PAY THEM TO PLAY. A CLASS ACTION SUIT WILL SOON BE IN THE WORKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!SCREEN FROZE ON A 13 SPIN FREE SCATTER AT $3000 A SPIN. NOT ONLY DID I LOSE THE $3000 I BET, BUT A POSSIBLE HUGE WIN WITH THE 13 SPINS. I’M REALLY, REALLY, PISSED OFF!

  16. AJ Glasser says:

Slotomania requires the use of virtual currency to activate the slot machines — like inserting a virtual quarter into the slot. To purchase the virtual currency, players must first buy Facebook Credits — that’s where the use of real money comes into play.

  17. Valerie Ramsey says:

I also think the games are rigged to loose. Even for those that play and pay regularly. The worst thing is I was robbed of ten dollars . the site went down and triple charged me for the 5000 coins.
where do we go for that. That is out right theft.

  18. Denise says:

I purchased 100.00 dollars with of coins and recieved not 1 coin for my money ,, contacted slotomania and kimberly miller,” said it’s facebook is who I have to contact”.. now what,, I disputed it on facebook ,so. out of money and my coins ..PISSED OFF,,,

  19. Tony says:

Slotomania is the biggest rip off game of the century. It does not pay out anything. Do not be stupid enough to pay for coins. You may as well flush it down the toilet. Also you can not contact developers and they do not respond to the 1000 or more complaints made every day on their facebook page. They are just happy to get your money.

  20. Matt says:

I’m looking to license a good multiplayer slot game for use on social networks…..Anyone have any ideas on any titles/companies?

I’d be interested in finding a developer that has something and is willing to license the code as well.

    Any ideas?

  21. Isabel Asprey says:

Hi I have been playing Slotomania for quite awhile and I love the game. For the last week I have been trying to reach the next level, and cannot do anything. Since I need nearly 23 million per level now it is hard to move up. Why are the big bets not paying, and why does the game keep freezing up, I find this irratating especially when I am play for a bonus. I hope you can help me to see what is happening. I must say that Slotomania is the best game on Facebook and I really do enjoy, despite my whining.
Graphics are great, keep up the good work.

  22. julie fuller says:

I had all my free spin gifts disappear yesterday and says I have zero of 63 levels unlocked! whats up! I can send free spins but am nor recieving them! I used to love playing this game, but I am just about to find na diff site! Give me my spins back!!!

  23. Debbie Hendricks says:

Stay clear this site. It has turned in a big money grab. There’s even a pop-up now every time you load the game, trying to get you to buy coins. They offer not pay time what so ever! Machines just spit out losing spins and eat your coins. This site use to be fun, but now all they want is money. The biggest scam on facebook is to buy coins on this site. And they might be ‘generous’ with the free coins, but the machines are so tight these days that they’re waste of time.

  24. Deborah says:

I was stunned after playing this game for a year when I SAW the wheel for bonuses stop at a high bonus level, inside the higher pay level area!, Then move BACKWARDS to a lower paying level! I am not a nutcase, nor someone who plays all day. I know what I saw. This game is rigged. You can respond to Davis.deborah@yahoo.com with no excuses. I will never recommend this game to ANYONE again if you can’t or won’t answer this with a reasonable (REASONABLE) RESPONSE!! I’m not amused.

  25. marian curtis says:

why is it that I have a friend send me Collect 300 points to the first five people who click on this?I am unable to collect those points even immediately after he post them.I can collect from other people with no problem. Please email me a response.

  26. RAYWYN RIDDER says:

Wanting to know why for about 4 days now ,it wont allow me to collect my bonuses, it allows me to play , but cant receive any bonuses at all, why is this, please reply to my email address thank you

  27. mary carlson says:

Game will not let me receive bonuses, it will let me play (just a short time), will not let send free spins. Refresh comes up constantly and does nothing. Also, Stack Overflow at line: 832 pops up????????

  28. mary carlson says:

This has been going on for 4 days, thought I’d add this.

  29. kim lloyd says:

how come my slotomania comes up in a different screen with no facebook friends on it, won’t let me collect or send spins……very frustrating!!! please fix!

  30. Troy says:

Slotomania makes the mistake of trying too hard to feel like an actual slot machine. That may work in a casino, when you have the chance of winning some money, but for a Facebook game it’s little more than an exercise in monotony. The game is dressed up like a video game, with a great presentation and a handful of mini-games, but it doesn’t play like one. It’s gambling with none of the thrills. Even for a virtual slot experience, the payout rates are appalling. How Playtika manages to hold onto their MAU’s is beyond me. Furthermore, would you spend your hard earn money on purchasing their virtual currency that is, well, worth absolutely nothing in the real world?

  31. Ralph says:

what a bunch of thieving bastards

  32. kathie says:

I have been playing Slotomania for about 6 months now and it seems ro be getting tighter and tighter with the payouts. Also the freezing all the time where you lose all the free spins and all the potential wins is soooo frustrating. This is supposed to be relaxing and fun. NOT ANYMORE!!!

  33. Dan says:

when will u make a slotomania app for android users

  34. Joann Harold says:

I love playing slotomania, but for the past few weeks, can not send free spins, now I cant even get on the game, spinning cicles all the time, have to refresh all the time, whats up ?? cant get any help from anyone, OH slotomania did finally contact me via email, gave me 50 free spins, which I have not collected because I CAN NOT GET ON THE GAME

  35. Really says:

I just can’t get my head around the fact that there are so many suckers out there paying real money to try and win fake money yet the game is rigged to make you lose that fake money do that you pay more real money – this is why they are getting to the top of the top grossing apps in the app store – surely if you are into pokies you should pay real money and at least have a chance to win real money using an online casino service or just go down the road to the local bar – still just shows there are lots of suckers out there

  36. Anthony/Kimberly Hill says:

at about 4:30am EST we got the bonus round betting 3500 pts, the screen turned black and nothing happened….playing Extravazanga….. We play this game all the time and if you look back we bounce from3 Million to 1000…….please do what you can to help us…………………Kimber

  37. Donna Martin says:

Love this game, add donnamartin8980 @ gmail .com and I will send you free spins!!

  38. sheila says:

Trying to play slots. After about 1 min it kicks me back to the log in screen. Help I love playing slotomania.

  39. kenny says:

cant connect with facebook on slotomania on my nexus y ????????????

  40. cindy from Texas says:

This game is rigged!! I play it all the time and will not spend my hard earned money to play this game.. but damn Vegas machines hit better than these stupid machines.. even when you get “Scatter” I still don’t win anything!! I trade in my free spins to get more money and out of 10 spins I won $52. WoW Slotomania dont want to break you on all you fake money but damn at least you can rig it to where its worth my time sitting and watching the spins. This game used to be fun and I would at least win a little FAKE money, but now I guess Slotomania is getting greedy with even their fake money and taking all the fun out of playing the game!!
I will find another game!!! C-ya

  41. Linda Hasenjager says:

I love playing Slotomania, however, now friends postings are not coming through on the facebook feed as individual posts. They are coming through in groups which is an error on either facebook or slotomania’s site. I have tried contacting them on numerous occasions and get no response. Does anyone know how to actually talk to a real live person or fix the issue above. Facebook has been really messed up lately and sometimes all I get is a white screen. No one will return e-mails and I am getting really frustrated.

  42. peter star says:

Just had a frozen screen myself found this site read all the winging that’s going on was going to have a wing as well but in stead I went to my downloads and got rid off sloto crap and I did could not do without so I downloaded it again low and behold it gave me my money back but if it happens again its gooiiinnngggg for good or bad lol This is not a fix but it helped me few sick of typing going to sloto mainia
