Scoreloop Closes $2.8 Million Series B from Earlybird and Target Partners
Munich-based social game platform developer Scoreloop is announcing a €2m (USD $2.8 million) second round of financing today. Led by newcomer Earlybird and Scoreloop’s veteran financier, Target Partners, the round is intended to go towards further development of Scoreloop’s mobile social gaming platform.
Since launching in April, the company’s iPhone platform has signed up over 500 game developers with over 40 Scoreloop enabled apps in the wild, utilizing leaderboards, player challenges, virtual currency, and viral distribution. Scoreloop has focused on partnerships with other game creators, and not creating games themselves. To that end, the German company has been able to provide a neutral platform that the company says has allowed it to gain ground against competition from ngmoco and Aurora Feint.
With the funding, Scoreloop says it will begin working on cross-platform capabilities as well as focus on “international business development with larger publishers and portals.” The company already has partners in the US, Asia, and Germany.
