   I think that perhaps Nexon should release a few “private server” type games that have higher exp/drop rates and shops that sell items for higher classes etc. That way, even the lazy players would be playing a server by Nexon and still may even purchase NX cash on the easier “private server” like games. :/

   I think Nexon should just realize that people who use private servers are sick of nexon. Maybe if nexon cared about the people playing their games then they would be happy if the people are happly playing the games the way they want them. Nexon should also realize that the money that anyone earns off of private servers (I mean Donation only) is earned from their own hard work. No maybe not the hard work of writing the entire game themselves. But perhaps they should get credit for meeting the people’s needs.

   But hey, it’s the same response any anarchy would have to a new, more appealing political party.

   I don’t think Nexon don’t care about their players, It’s just that they have so many players that pay for NX Cash often, and they think that by closing private servers, they eventually have to come back to the real MapleStory(which doesn’t happen often. They either find a new private server, or a new game.) so Nexon can make more money.

   I think that Nexon should just face facts that people are too lazy to play on their game 20-40 hours a week as if it’s their job to play. They should just let the private servers stay and not mind them until they get too out of hand, like in the case above, and give them a formal warning of termination or to put down their server size so it’s not serious competition to the real version. I also think they should be more confident in their own game, these private servers are more flattering than harmful it’s just they want to have their own flip on the game so they make a server of their own. Also, most private servers are setting up vote only servers for non-nexon people. So in conclusion, through my opinion, they should just stop whining about how these are affecting them and get over it.

   or perhaps a better idea…. nexon should put up a limited private server client for purchase with a cap of say 16-32 players allowed to log into it no nexon store access everything else such as drop rates exp rates and cash prices editable

   and maybe sell it for around the price of a new game($50.00 american) i honestly feel that would be worth it

   i really don’t know where nexon got the idea that they lose money is people play private servers its not like MOST of the just say “hey i quit maplestory and am playing private servers only” most people on private servers play the original maplestory and private servers so nexon doesn’t lose money because the people that quit maplestory to plat pservers just get bored of maplestory and that has nothing to do with pservers and i see some people have great ideas the nexon should make pservs and sell them but in reality nexon doesnt want pservers because they r easy they want the people that play maplestoy too take a long time to reach lvl 200 so the can pay for more nexon cash so in reality nexon just would not make a pserver just because they want more money and this is my last thing but i dont know where nexon got the idea the if they close pservers their players would come backto them cause i know that recantly nexon closed all the good pservers and keep on closing them and i know that most of the people quit everything that has to do with maplestory(like me) so nexon is just driving away their players not bringing them back

    I say yay to private servers.
    I have to rely on private servers cuz I’m currently living in another country and cannot understand the lingo of the now localised maple.

    Nexon should realise that most people will not pay for their extra items and many are happy to just play something fun and free.

    Methinks they should keep their local servers but in different languages like the way they did with the EU server, only they should do that for every server, everywhere…

    yeah u make less friends if u have no NX items, how boring is that. Also you cant really hunt with each other if you have x2 exp card that cost a fortune.

    Why not just play Private MS? everyone is equal.

    If nexon wants to stop people from using private servers, it should create a server like them… One with MUCH MUCH higher rates, fun PQs, access to the cash shop for free, etc.

    I wouldn’t be surprised if soon almost all of the players who play on normal servers converted, because Nexon’s version of the game sucks.

    The truth? Nexon is greedy, and wants money for their product and are now getting mad because some people are smart enough to get around their pathetic excuse of a server. You can’t beat them Nexon, join them.

    And furthermore, I don’t get how Nexon thinks they’re losing money to these private servers. The people who play on private servers do so because they don’t want to spend money on the game and can get just about everything for free.

    The only people who donate to the private servers are those who are generous enough to realize how expensive hosting fees are and try to help out.

    Those people who are shelling out money wouldn’t necessarily be giving that money to Nexon if they were playing on a legit server. Hell, these people probably wouldn’t even play on Nexon’s server, because it sucks comparitavely.

    Understandably, I know why Nexon is looking to shut down private servers. It was originally handed out to a select few contest winners and is now in the hands of people who shouldn’t have it.

    This isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but to Nexon it is, as it is after all a business and it’s losing players and money. Truth be told, these people are distributing copyright material and it’s expected that when a company gets large enough, it’s going to do something about its losses.

    I’ve been playing on the global server for years, recently returning from a significant time break, and I don’t see nearly as many players online as I use to…I suspect that the majority of them quit to play on a private server. And although Nexon hosting its own private server is a nice idea, it’s unlikely as people would simply play that instead, defeating the purpose of their global server.

    Admittedly, MapleStory is a grind fest, and were it not for that fact and that beefing up my character can cost quite a bit of money in the long haul, I would absolutely love playing the game. But after that’s all said and done, it’s in reality very tiring and kinda boring now. I applaud them for doing what they can for the Maple community, but sometimes it doesn’t seem like even that is enough.

    I reply to this for one reason, the way maplestory looks now. If you haven’t seen it you probably should, because they have lost lots of people. None of my friends were ever on for a week, guildmates all off, and kinda empty in some pqs. I’m thinking that maplestory will end up like audition for nexon, and as you can see that wasn’t very good. In my personal opinion I think that nexon really does need a day of high rates, or an optinal server of high rates and rebirth. The maker of AsiaSoft got bored with the real server so he made his own. Don’t get mad at nexon for shutting them down, because their just trying to protect their info, but you can resent them for doing it because of being greedy for more money.

    Nexon should seriously learn that the reason for private servers are due to themselves. No one wants to spend 24/7 on a stupid little 2D game that takes years to level. Nexon lacks so much compared to private servers, such as: EXP/Meso/Drop rates (obviously), GM-Player interaction etc. Also, the whole idea of paying money to a game to get different stuff is understandable, but it has to be a point where if it’s godly stuff, then that make sense, sorta. But, if it’s for stuff like NX and just dress yourself up kinda stuff, it should be at least made to something that you can buy off with Mesos. Not everyone wants to spend for a private server. I had a friend who spent over $1000 (USD) onNX in GMS, that’s why he/she quit playing; no one wants to waste their money. Closing down servers won’t really help either for the fact that people will move from one private server to another since they’ve already gotten used to the implementation that’s provided in private servers. In private servers, you reach to a level that’s nearly impossible to reach in GMS, but people are used to the other rates, so they rather not look “noob” and move on to another private server. Also, look how many people there are in the world, if Nexon closes one server down, even if they issue a notice stating they’re not allowed to revive or recreate it in anyway, others will make one, so don’t you think that this whole shutting down idea is never-ending?
    And seriously, most private servers have a fair enough amount of players that makes the world seem a more peaceful place, making it much more easier to train then all that spam and fighting for training spots. Not only that, but the amount doesn’t really affect much of Nexon, anyway, since it’s going to get the money from others who are purchasing NX from Nexon.

    NEXON SUCKS!!!! I love private servers. It is not right for nexon to shut them down because as many of you said, people in private servers just leave to another game after the private servers have been shut down. Who wants to go back to MS Global after you have had the experience of playing on a private server??? I dont think so 100%. Nexon should lay off because by shutting down the private servers, I see them as being weak for being scared that private servers will overrun and become more popular than them. DIE NEXON AND GET SOME GUTS!!!!

    I have really grown to hate regular pathetic ms for many reasons, one the shut down the section for maplestory private servers in extremetop which is really gonna affect the previous regular maple players and also just make them all hate regular ms more! you sicken me nexon, you pathetic money hungry dirt bags….. leave private server alone or better yet, MAKE YOUR OWN f*****KING SERVER JUST LIKE THEM if you cant beat them join them simple as that nexon then they’ll be piece in the online gaming world THINK NEXON THINK INSTEAD OF SITTING ON YOUR ASS WINNING ABOUT HOW YOU LOOSING MONEY YOU SOUND LIKE A 5 YEAR OLD BABY CRYING OVER SPILLED MILK….. -_-!

    private servers r much better than default ms because it doesnt give u the stress of taking up to over a year just to get to the max lv; u dont have to worry about being poor because the drop rates r amazing, but u also get lots of rare items so u dont need to spend weeks saving and looking for them.
    so private servers sould not be shut down; just the ones that ppl r sure that they dont work, or havnt been working for a while.

    I heard that a reason nexon shut down private servers is because the owners of these servers were telling everyone they need money to pay for these, so they asked for donations to help pay for something that was free. Nexon got mad and shut them down

Heck after maple genesis got shut down i stopped playing maplestory now im just gonna hang arround hit the books. You when they say its a free game? They actually mean its free but its crappy.     I know that by now this is an old topic, however, I would like to make a point. The fact that there are significantly less users on the global game owned by Nexon does not matter. Nexon and Wizet are copyrighted, and the game itself is their property. Those who run unauthorized private servers are in fact stealing from Nexon/Wizet is the problem. I in fact play a private server, however I also still play the global version at the same time. When the difficulty of the global server becomes a bother, I play the private server. When the private server becomes too easy, I play the global server. I have never payed Nexon a single penny so far, and might not ever, so in fact, if I were to quit, I would not be impacting Nexon’s revenue at all. I am sure there are others that do the same as me. The bottom line, it is not about the money, the loss of players, or the difficulty of the servers, or jealousy, it is simply that there is a copyright on the game, and the contents of the game, and as stated above, the only aim of Nexon is surely to shut down the UNAUTHORIZED private servers. Those whom run a private server WITH permission, and are not breaching copyright laws or contracts are not a bother to Nexon/Wizet, and are not in danger of being shut down. The private servers are not a threat to the global server, or Nexon. It is nothing huge to discuss, the matter is simply of legal concern, as long as you have Nexon/Wizet’s permission, consent, and you follow the agreement’s and wishes they issue you, no fault on either side will be incurred.

    Hello, i would like to comment on this as well.

    Though I had tried MS about 2 years ago for the first time, I didn’t stick with it because I was playing at my brother’s house so I didnt’ have constant access. Lately, i have stopping up at my mother’s to play it during the daytime since she has multiple computers and I help her out with stuff around the house(i only live 2 blocks away). I in fact have just turned 30 and the reason why I play it at my age is because my brother plays it so I want to play a game like this with him. I probably wouldn’t have gotten into it on my own.

    Anyways, these are my complaints:

    1) Hogging territory/channels: how can you share space witt a few million people on a server that has say 19 channels and not get complaints when ppl who are higher level ks you or when ppl squat on a channel and ask you to leave after they’ve killed a spawning boss and then stay there again so they “own” the channel. Sometimes it actually interferes with quests. They screw you right over, with the safety of being thousands of miles away from you in real life(cowards).

    2)NX cash/items: while I agree with the idea of the company being able to sell items for real cash, there has to be a line drawn. Some of these cash items should be available with mesos to a degree. Extra character slots and stuff like that are alright for paying real cash, that’s not bad. The free stuff isn’t nearly enough custumozation and the free haircuts are stupid because things usually turn out bad. A player should have access to some of these things without cash(though it doesn’t need to be all). Also, there should be a lot more PERMANENT things(though you could raise the prices on things about 25% or some on some things if you’re going to make them permanent)

    3)Rates: I have never seen such a horrible game for exp. God forbid if you want to do more than 1 character and go to 200. The rare item rates are low, but that’s not the worst of it. It’s those damn things like Blackbull’s deed that are the icing on the cake. The meso rates are pathetic, considering the prices of buying things in shops or FMs. (35000 mesos for 100 high level enemies for example. That probably won’t pay for half the MP pots you use to kill them in a lot of cases. Too much relying on enemies dropping ultra rare stuff to pay for new stuff and your constant maintainence)

    It wasn’t nearly this bad when I played Diablo 2. Yes, it was rare to find a Zod rune. But there weren’t that many rare things like that that you would really complain about when you were getting stuff doing runs.Which brings me to my idea.

    I think MS should go towards a Diablo 2 route since it’s already a free game to play anyways.

    1. Make the game available offline/online.

    You can play by yourself offline or by LAN(i believe that’s right) between close quarter computers. However, you can’t do party quests, trade, cash shop/NX and things. You also wouldn’t get access to online events and things. However, you would at least get to play unbothered or in small groups. Also great if your internet’s down.

    2. Better rates. Need I say more?

    3. Access to more custumozation that doesn’t require NX and at least some sort of pet.

    This is how I think you could make this happen. As opposed to being a completely free game. MS could be sold as a PC game(and would be REQUIRED TO PLAY) on disc just like WOW for the same price as WOW and you could still play online for free. Make the changes to rates we’ve being needing(a little drop on the experience needed at some of the lower levels and higher % drop at higher levels, double the item rates and mesos)

    By doing this, the company would actually make a lot of money as well when the millions of players have to buy the game at a store to play but are getting a better game. Good for all of us.

    Most people would argue with me about this because it wouldn’t be free but if it’s a good game and you only have to pay for the game and still play online for free, it’s worth it to pay $40-50 to OWN the game. If you like it that much, it ain’t so bad is it? People out there are paying to buy WOW, and they actually have to pay every month.

    WoW isn’t a 2d sidescrolling game with a bunch of flaming noobs instead of experienced players…notice the difference? You pay to play WoW, less idiots, you jump onto maple for some free fun, half the people either beg for your money, or you have to pay twice as much as WoW just to look good, in which case even MORE people will beg for your money. And no matter how much money you spend on making your avatar look good, the gaming experience isn’t getting better any time soon. Private servers, on the other hand, are completely free, you can make your avatar look as awesome as you want, and most of the people actually provide a meaningful conversation rather than begging because the drop rate is so high. Sheesh. Nexon, I respect you, but seriously…focus on the FACTS rather than wasting your lives suing teenagers.

    Where should I start..?

    Alright, I have started playing GMS a few years ago and I must say, it was pretty bad..After all I wasn’t full of knowledge of the MS community that time. I played GMS once again about 1 year after I first started. My avatar was progressing at a considerable rate, but after level 55, I just…stopped. I know some friends that still play GMS today, but one of my friends told me about a private server called EnigmaMS. Okay, I played the server and it was sweet. I pity those that had to work INSANELY hard to get to lv 200 in GMS..Nexon must rethink their rates, otherwise they WILL lose money, and their rep will crush down to the FLOOR. Not by some private servers.
